Irish drinks exports surged 19pc to over €2.1bn in 2024, primarily fueled by a strong whiskey market, which itself grew 13pc to surpass €1bn; additionally, the emerging ready-to-drink category’s exports tripled to €235 million.

Bord Bia reported that Irish food, drink, and horticulture exports reached a record €17bn in 2023, marking a 5pc increase from the previous year, largely driven by higher pricing amid ongoing inflation.

The European Union accounted for €5.9bn of the exports, maintaining France, Germany, and Belgium as top customers, while England remained the largest market overall, with exports also rising to North America by 14pc to €2bn.

Dairy exports remained the largest category, stable at €6.3bn, while meat and livestock saw a 6pc increase to €4.3bn, reflecting solid demand in these sectors.
