‘Brisbane has changed’ – ATE 2025 hosts 330 buyers & delivers Olympic message

Australian Tourism Exchange 2025 (ATE25) has opened in Brisbane, the largest international trade show in the southern hemisphere.

The event welcomes over 720 international buyers from 31 countries, showcasing Queensland to a global audience.

More than 330 media and trade representatives will experience Queensland through 63 familiarisation programs, exploring 346 unique experiences across the State.

ATE25 features 1,500 exhibitors and is supported by the Crisafulli Government’s 20 Year Tourism Plan, aiming for a boost ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Those attending will witness Queensland’s diverse offerings, including participation from 169 tourism operators, the largest representation of the State at a trade show.

The Aviation Hub, born in the wake of the pandemic, brings together Australia’s airports and airlines. New Zealand is Australia’s biggest inbound market with 1.32m visitors followed by China with 1.2m, USA 716k, England 649k, India: 448k , Japan: 396k and South Korea: 382k with Ireland in 19th place on 86,500, up 8.2pc on 2024 and 29pc ahead of pre-pandemic. Visitor numbers in January 2025 were up again by 14pc to 11,210. Ireland has the second highest take up of second year work visas and the fourth highest take up of one year work visas. 

Minister Powell shared “Brisbane has completely changed since the Australian Tourism Exchange was last held here 17 years ago, and we’re so excited to have this opportunity to showcase our capital city and our State to such a large, influential audience,”

Premier Crisafulli shared “We know we live in a wonderful part of Australia, and this is our chance to make our mark on the global market,” 

Philipa Harrison shared: “It’s a great opportunity to tell them about the incredible products and experiences Australia has to offer for international holidaymakers. “We had a standing start with tourism a couple of years ago, and it is coming back. The holiday sector is growing – it grew 14% last year as we rebuilt aviation and rebuilt the desire to travel. Airlines are more than just tourism, But this is their tourism-focused week, and it keeps getting stronger”.

Craig Davidson shared “People simply love Queensland when they are exposed to it, so we’ve gone to considerable effort to ensure they are taken out and about and given a true taste of Queensland’s beauty, culture, adventure and eco-tourism experiences. Airlines are more than just tourism, But this is their tourism-focused week, and it keeps getting stronger”.
