Cathay Group has placed a firm order with Airbus for 30 A330-900 aircraft as part of its mid-size widebody fleet renewal program.

The new A330neo aircraft will replace Cathay’s earlier generation A330-300 fleet and support the airline’s expansion on high-capacity regional routes, while offering flexibility for longer range destinations.

The A330neo fleet will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and will play a key role in Cathay’s regional widebody operations, complementing its existing A320-family and A350 fleets.

The A330-900 has a nonstop flight range of 7,200 nm / 13,330 km and is part of Airbus’s successful A330 program, which has garnered 1,805 firm orders from over 130 customers globally, with 1,469 aircraft currently in service on various routes worldwide.
