Seven Chinese airlines requested more time to comment on a US DOT ban on using Russian airspace for US-China flights.
The ban, effective 30 days after a final order, enforces Article 2(4) of the US-China Air Transport Agreement. US airlines cannot use Russian airspace, which they say creates a competitive disadvantage against Chinese carriers.
The DOT set a two-business-day comment period, deemed too short by the airlines.
