COMAC advances C919-600 testing and plans first flight next year

COMAC has conducted taxi tests with the first C919 600 prototype at Shanghai Pudong. The shortened variant removes six fuselage frames from the standard C919 100STD model. Engineers designed the aircraft for high altitude airport operations with capacity for 138 to 160 passengers.

The prototype registered as B 002U with manufacturer serial number 00032 performed tests in June 2026. First flight is planned for 2027. Xizang Airlines holds an order for 40 units announced in 2023 and will deploy the type on its Tibet network.

The aircraft currently operates alongside A319 100Ns and B737 700s on routes in the region. Development focuses on weight reduction and performance at elevated airports.
