Costa Rica will host the 29th World Congress of the International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO) from 21-25 October 2024, focusing on “Social Sustainability of Tourism” and bringing together global leaders in sustainable tourism.

The event, in partnership with the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT), will take place in San José and feature field visits to showcase community-based tourism projects, statutory meetings on governance and policy, and innovation sessions highlighting novel approaches to social sustainability.

Costa Rica’s commitment to responsible tourism aligns with ISTO’s mission, with initiatives like the Integral Management of Tourism Destinations aiming to spread tourism income more equally across the country.
