Long-delayed Sagrada Família in Barcelona gets upper arm of its cross installed

The upper arm of the cross has been installed on the tower of Jesus Christ at the Sagrada Família in Barcelona.

This milestone completes the exterior of the central tower, which stands 172.5 metres tall and forms the highest point of the basilica. The cross measures 17 metres in height and 13.5 metres in width, clad in glass and white enamelled ceramic, with the final piece placed after the lower arm was installed on 27 October 2025.

The tower features twelve faces and was constructed using a tensioned-stone system with panels built off-site. Inside the upper arm a sculpture of the Agnus Dei by artist Andrea Mastrovito will be positioned, visible from within the cross. The completion coincides with the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death and marks a tribute to the architect.

Jordi Faulí shared completion of the cross on the tower of Jesus Christ represents much more than the culmination of a phase of construction: it is the result of years of work and studying the legacy Antoni Gaudí left us. It is also a firm commitment to the future, to continue working to complete the Sagrada Família.
