Delta Air Lines reveals firm order for thirty B787-10s

Delta Air Lines has revealed a firm order for thirty B787-10s directly from Boeing with options for thirty more. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2031. This marks Delta’s first commitment for the B787.

The carrier’s widebody fleet includes eleven A330-200s, thirty-one A330-300s, thirty-nine A330-900Ns, forty A350-900s, thirty-nine B767-300ERs, and twenty-one B767-400ERs. Unfilled orders comprise four more A350-900s and twenty A350-1000s. The new order targets modernising the widebody fleet.

Delta operates from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson. The B787-10s’ role in replacing specific types remains undisclosed. The order expands Delta’s fleet with new-generation Boeing widebodies.

Delta shared in a written statement “The order is Delta’s first-ever commitment for the B787. The order was aimed at ‘modernising’ its widebody fleet.”
