Dubai Duty Free, headed up by Galway born Colm McLaughlin, achieved US$2.16bn in 2023 sales, surpassing the previous year by 24.39pc and 6.4pc over 2019’s pre-pandemic figures.
Perfumes, liquor, gold, cigarettes and tobacco, and electronics were the top five selling categories, with perfumes leading at 17pc of total sales.
The majority of sales (90pc) came from Departures, with India, Russia, and China being the top source markets for DDF’s sales.
DDF plans major refurbishments at Dubai International Airport’s Concourse B, several arrivals shops, and updates in Concourse A, while celebrating its 40th anniversary and winning an award for the best duty-free shopping.
