

Dublin airport is lodging its planning application to Fingal County Council today (December 15 2023).
Physcal copies of the 7,000 page document are being delivered in dozens of boxes to the headquarters of Fingal County Council this morning.
The daa, the Airport Authority, is applying for a 15-year permission to build a suite of 11 distinct infrastructure projects at Dublin Airport and the surrounding area as well as an increase in the passenger capacity at the airport from 32m to 40m passengers per annum.
The application, which will take an anticipated two years to process including public submissions, will enable the airport to grow to 40m passengers per year. It will submit its new Infrastructure Application to Fingal County Council later next month.
Improvements planned for Dublin Airport within the new Infrastructure Application include:
- ix new aircraft gates in Terminal 1 and three in Terminal 2 to add boarding capacity
- An expansion of both the North and South Aprons.
- Improvements to Terminal 1 security with security moved to the mezzanine level.
- New aircraft stands on the West end of the airfield for parking for nearly 100 based aircraft;
- Enhanced drainage Infrastructure.
- Improved airport access and parking facilities, road network upgrades, the expansion and improvement of car parks and the relocation of some staff parking.
- An upgrade of the Ground Transportation Centre to enable more frequent and quicker access for buses to Dublin city centre and around the country
