Ryanair’s appeal against the tunnel project at Dublin Airport has been rejected by the Supreme Court. The underpass construction is expected to cost over €200 million and will last at least three years.
The DAA emphasised that the project will enhance safety and access on the airfield. The loss of two aircraft stands is a point of contention for Ryanair, who argues it does not meet current demand.
Supreme Court justices declined to grant leave to appeal based on insufficient grounds presented by Ryanair.
The Supreme Court shared; “the panel is not satisfied that the issue identified by Ryanair as the issue of general public importance justifying the grant of leave properly arises on the facts here.”
DAA shared: “We look forward to now getting on with the construction of the underpass. This will improve access and safety on the airfield, allowing for the segregation of aircraft and vehicles,”
