Dublin City Council has launched the refurbishment of the historic Fruit and Vegetable Market in Dublin 7.
The project aims to modernise the market while preserving its Victorian architectural character. A funding commitment of €9.5m from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage supports this initiative.
The refurbishment is expected to enhance the local economy and promote community engagement over a 112-week programme. The refurbished market will serve as a modern retail space, fostering local regeneration and providing a focal point for the community.
Dublin’s Lord Mayor Ray McAdam shared “The Fruit and Vegetable Market is the jewel of Dublin’s north inner city.”
Minister James Browne shared “The support provided through €9.5m demonstrates the Government’s commitment to conserving historic structures.”
Richard Shakespeare shared “The refurbishment will provide a high-quality, sustainable retail food market.”
