
Emirates placed an order for 90 Boeing 777X aircraft on the first day of the Dubai air show, comprising 55 777-9 and 35 777-8 aircraft.
This increases its B777X family backlog to 205 aircraft. It has also ordered five more B787s, growing its B787 order list to 35, and converted 30 B787-9s to 20 B787-8 & 10 B787-10 aircraft.
The order has a book value of $63 bn. The airline said in a statement that this investment “will further advance UAE’s aviation vision, and reaffirms our commitment to achieving the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 which aims to add 400 cities to Dubai’s foreign trade map and consolidate the Dubai’s position as a top three global city.”
Dubai duty free, headed up by Colm McLoughlin, will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary at the show.
