Emirates has increased its investment in fleet refurbishment programs to $4bn to address ongoing aircraft delivery delays, planning to refurbish over 200 B777s and A380-800s as part of the initiative.
Boeing confirmed that the first deliveries of its B777X aircraft will be delayed until 2026, prompting Emirates to seek compensation, with the airline expressing doubts about Boeing’s ability to provide accurate delivery forecasts.
Despite its frustrations with Boeing, Emirates has placed orders for additional B777-200 freighters to enhance its existing fleet of 12, which were added to Boeing’s backlog prior to the announcement of the B777X delivery delays.
The first of sixty-five A350-900s is now expected to arrive in November, initially servicing the Dubai-Edinburgh route, with plans for future deployments in India and the Gulf region as more aircraft are delivered.
