The ESB has described the flight between the Poolbeg chimneys by three Red Bull skydivers in wing suits as a “serious safety incident”

Marco Fürst, Marco Waltenspiel and Max Manowhe, the Red Bull skydivers reached a top speed of 253km/h and completed their flight in just over a minute

ESB stated that they were not approached or given permission for the skydive, and have raised safety concerns with the Irish Aviation Authority and Health and Safety Authority.

The skydivers were brought to a height of 1,280 metres above Dublin Bay via helicopter

They then began their descent over the Great South Wall and towards the Poolbeg chimneys, which they passed through at 135 metres above the ground.

The team had to perform a ‘flare’ manoeuvre in order to regain the height needed to pull their parachutes and land safely on Shelly Banks Beach.

Red Bull said: “three members of the Red Bull Sky Dive Team completed a flight over Dublin Bay at sunrise this (Friday) morning. This was done with rigorous safety measures and with the permission from all the required relevant authorities – i.e. the Irish Aviation Authority and Air Traffic Control.”
