The most popular destination in Ireland for Europcar rental clients is the western coastal route, and the Wild Atlantic Way. Europcar states on their website the Wild Atlantic Way, “is the crown jewel of Irish tourism at the moment. Those who took part in the survey wholeheartedly agreed as 98pc of tourists would rate the Wild Atlantic Way tourist trail as the most scenically beautiful region in Ireland.”
Two thirds of tourists book hotels for their stay in Ireland with more than half using guesthouses and B&Bs., while 47pc stay with friends and family.
The typical amount spent for hotel accommodations was between €101 and €200 per night and 71pc of those surveyed described their hotels as good value for their money and 83pc of respondents rated hotel staff as friendly,
- 57pc of the tourists have visited Ireland more than once
- 37pc were visiting for the first time.
- 23pc of rental clients came from Britain
- 17pc of rental clients came from USA
- 5pc came from Germany
- 4pc came from France.
- 4pc came from Canada
Enthusiasm for trying Guinness was also high, with 77pc of tourists having a taste on their holiday.
The 2016 Europcar Tourism Index was conducted between April and November 2016. There were 6,094 car rental clients who participated in the survey.
