European airports have welcomed the EU jet fuel crisis response plan. The European Commission introduced AccelerateEU to address the energy situation from the Middle East conflict. ACI Europe issued a statement on the measures.

No airport in Europe faced jet fuel shortages and flight operations continued normally. The plan established an EU Fuel Observatory to track supply and stocks. It included coordination on alternative sources, flexibilities under EU legislation, imported fuels, and review of strategic stocks.

Olivier Jankovec from ACI Europe confirmed the plan reflected requests made in a letter on 9 April. Member states received calls to suspend aviation taxes. The measures aimed to safeguard jet fuel availability across the network.

Olivier Jankovec shared “No airport in Europe is currently facing jet fuel shortages and flight operations are proceeding normally. But the plan adopted today is the adequate strategy and response to mitigate potential jet fuel shortage risks given how uncertain the situation remains over the resumption of the safe and stable passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
