‘Exceptional items’ nudge Eddie Rockets food chain back into profitability

Eddie Rockets (Ireland) Ltd achieved pre-tax profits of €774,827 in 2023, marking a turnaround from a pre-tax loss of €1.8m in 2022.

The firm reported a 6pc increase in revenues, from €16.45m in 2022 to €17.39m in 2023, mainly due to the sale of fixed assets.

Exceptional gains of €2.2m included a €1.67m profit from fixed assets and a €530,000 recovery related to subsidiary investments.

Operating lease costs rose to €1.24m, while employee numbers grew from 260 to 284, with total staff costs up from €5.37m to €6.44m.

At the end of December 2023, accumulated profits reached €859,935, though cash funds decreased from €576,208 to €498,694.

The group operates 38 restaurants under the Eddie Rockets brand in Ireland, 22 in Dublin and 16 elsewhere.

The directors shared: “in the current climate, assumptions used in financial forecasting are highly dependent on unpredictable future events and therefore the company will continue to require the support of its landlords and other creditors for the foreseeable future.”
