A group of 15 Extinction Rebellion activists have attempted to block P&O Cruises’ Ventura from docking in Rotterdam.

The activists used boats and canoes to obstruct the docking process, which was delayed by approximately half an hour. Police intervened and arrested two protestors, dispersing the demonstration near Hotel New York. Extinction Rebellion labelled the Ventura a “floating environmental disaster” and demanded a ban on cruise ships in the Netherlands.
The latest protest is part of a wider ongoing campaign against cruise ships, which has also included disruptions to the Celebrity Eclipse in Amsterdam.
Extinction Rebellion shared, “We blocked the Maas so that the cruise ship could not dock. If the government still does not ban cruises, then we will stop them ourselves.”
