FAA launches audit of Southwest Airlines

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an audit of Southwest Airlines following recent close calls and incidents.

The audit will focus on broader aspects of Southwest’s operations, including pilot training, landing approaches, and maintenance procedures related to engine covers.

Southwest Airlines has formed a team of experts to analyse areas for improvement and is working closely with the FAA during the review process.

The audit is expected to be completed within three months and comes after Southwest flights experienced incidents such as taking off from a closed runway and a flight narrowly avoiding plunging into the ocean due to pilot error.
