The FAA is proposing capping daily summer operations at Chicago O’Hare at 2800 similar to current levels.
The measure addresses potential overscheduling by United Airlines and American Airlines. Published schedules exceed 3080 daily operations on peak days compared with 2680 last summer.
The FAA and DOT determine the proposed increase stresses runway terminal and air traffic control systems. Parties will meet on March 4 without agreement and plan to reconvene possibly in the second week of March.
