The ambitious duo plans to invest €10m over the next five years in property enhancements, sustainability, and expansion, marking a new era for the historic hotel with deep roots dating back to 1740.
Originally built by Col. John Mapas in 1740, the Castle Hotel in Killiney has been under the Fitzpatrick family ownership since 1971 when Paddy Fitzpatrick and Eithne purchased it. Eithne Fitzpatrick Scott-Lennon has been successfully managing the hotel since 2002, maintaining its original charm and warm Irish hospitality.
The hotel, now in its 53rd year under the Fitzpatrick name, offers 113 rooms, two bars, two restaurants, function rooms, leisure facilities including a gym, indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and recently added padel courts, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement and guest experience.

Eithne Fitzpatrick Scott-Lennon, retiring owner/CEO of the hotel, said, “I take great pride in the enduring legacy of the Fitzpatrick family, and I am thrilled to pass the baton to my two sons, Mark and Joseph. Over the years, this hotel has been more than a business to me, it’s been a labour of love filled with countless memories. As I retire from my role as Owner/CEO, I am filled with gratitude for the journey we’ve taken together and the legacy we’ve built. I have every confidence that Mark and Joseph will continue to uphold the values of hospitality and excellence that have defined this establishment for generations to come. Over the last five years the hotel has undergone extensive investment totalling over €2m to enhance its offerings. The hotel now boasts an outdoor Terrace Bar and Café which serves signature seasonal cocktails and wood-fired pizzas during the summer months as well as serving refreshments year round.”
Mark and Joseph Scott-Lennon, said, “Our commitment is to build upon the rich heritage of our family’s business while introducing fresh ideas and innovations to ensure an unforgettable experience for our guests. We are so grateful to our mother for the wonderful family working environment she has created here. Her dedication to fostering a supportive and nurturing atmosphere has been pivotal in the success of Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel. As we step into our new roles, we are committed to maintaining and enhancing this workplace culture, ensuring that our team members continue to thrive and deliver exceptional service to our guests.”
