The fixture list for the The Travel Fun Day Five-a-side Football competition has been released with defending champions Blue Insurance involved in the opening tie.
The event takes place this Sunday at Wanderers RFC on the Merion Road in Dublin 4.
Ciaran Mulligan, Blue Insurance MD, said of the event: “Im expecting the Blue team to retain the trophy again this year.
“I have had the team in training under the leadership of Jason Whelan with a big focus on fitness.
“I actually have turned off the lift for the past two weeks in our building so they would take the stairs to the third floor”.
OTHER TIES
In other opening games, Falcon Holidays will play Innstant travel, while Ethiopian Airlines will take on the Vikings from NI Travel News.
Aer Lingus kick off their opening match against Club Travel, while Topflight kick off against FCM Travel.
Expecting big support are Travel Counsellors who will kick off their opening game against Man Chest Hair Utd (Turkish Airlines) while Sunway Holidays will fight it out against E Travel Electrics for their opening game.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
The competiton is mixed with one girl minImum on the field for any team at all times, giving the event gender equality. Other rules are trainers only, no boots, and only two subs allowed.
Group clashes are short and intense five minutes, with quarter-finals onwards five minutes a half.
The event kicks off at 11am.
And as an added incentive to attend, there is a raffle with 20 plus prizes on offer, including flights to the Seychelles, Premium Economy to East Coast USA, New York, the Caribbean, Croatia, London and a weekend in Ashford Castle.
