
Plans are in motion to transform a former Belfast police station at Queen Street into a 74-bedroom hotel with a restaurant and bar.
Planners are recommending approval for the development, which will be submitted by Big Top Productions, and it will go before Belfast City Council’s planning committee in the coming week.
The development aims to secure the future of the grade B1 listed building, with the proposal being considered acceptable due to the sympathetic alterations to the listed building and the positive impact on job creation.
Planners say the alterations to the listed building “are considered sympathetic On balance, the scale, height, massing and design of the new build element at the rear are considered acceptable. The special qualities of the listed building and its setting would be safeguarded.”
