Fraud claims at heart of court battle between Chinese investors in Fota Island resort

Yuzhu Kang, a Chinese businessman living in Dublin, has launched High Court proceedings over a €30m investment in Irish properties, including the Fota Island Resort in Cork.

The central matter in controversy is who funded the purchase of the properties, including the Cork resort and the Kingsley Hotel in Cork city centre.

Yuzhu Kang has sued businesswoman Xiu Xiang Kelly, her son Tuo Du, and three companies in relation to the alleged conspiracy to defraud him.

The claims are denied, and there are allegations of financial difficulty and freezing orders against some of Yuzhu Kang’s assets.
