Villa Vie Residences, a company specialising in luxury residences at sea, is expecting to announce a ship purchase agreement in early December.

The company’s CEO, Mikael Petterson said in a recent webinar they are in the final stages of the purchase agreement and plan to announce the vessel by the end of the following week. “We are completely on track to meet our May 15 deadline and launch service out of Southampton.”

Villa Vie will share a 3D model of the ship, including deck plans and cabin renderings, on their website this week.

While the company did not disclose the name of the ship, a video shared during the webinar showcased Fred Olsen’s Braemar, a vessel that has been seeking a new owner since 2022.

Villa Vie anticipates taking possession of the ship between mid and late February. It will undergo an eight-week wet dock and a two-week drydock in Germany before being fully refurbished.

The refurbishment project, with a planned completion date of May 15, will include a complete refit and necessary onboard improvements.

The ship is reported to be in good condition, with well-functioning engines and positive reviews from technical assessments.

Petterson also hinted at the possibility of adding a second ship to the Villa Vie Residences fleet in the future, estimating the cost to be over $100m.
