Funding of €40,000 has been allocated for signage and surface works at Vinegar Hill. The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme granted €309,457 for eight Wexford projects.

Improvements will target walking and cycling trails, accessibility and parking. Housing Minister James Browne shared that investments are making a positive difference in recreational spaces.

The battle of Vinegar Hill took place on June 21, 1798, when English colonial forces under General Gerard Lake surrounded the hill, launching a fierce artillery bombardment before storming the summit. Although the rebels suffered severe losses and were heavily defeated, this rebellion shook English rule in Ireland to its core.
