Passengers transitting through Guayaquil Airport for onward or return journeys to the Galapagos Islands are now exempt from Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs ‘avoid non-essential travel’ recommendation for Ecuador.

Ecuador’s security status rating remains at “Avoid Non-Essential Travel.” The Embassy in Santiago, accredited to Ecuador, has clarified that this advisory does not apply to airside transit within Guayaquil Airport in Guayas province, including travel to and from the Galapagos Islands.
