Thousands of attendees are expected in Galway for street theatre performances of the annual Arts Festival this evening. “Microcosmos” by Planete Vapeur will feature giant insects, marking a highlight in the two-week arts and culture celebration.

The 2025 festival has drawn visitors globally, offering a diverse programme of music, theatre, and visual arts.

Organisers say that the festival’s use of alternative spaces such as vacant commercial units brings versatility and innovation, enhancing audience experience.

Paul Fahy shared, “the city’s own creatives draw inspiration from seeing the range and breadth of work that is on offer.”

Jane Cassidy shared, “we wanted to make musical instruments that are playable by everyone… you don’t need to be able to read music or have done piano lessons, everything is super intuitive, multi sensory, really touchable and just fun and enjoyable.”

Firenza Guidi shared, “I entered a universe that changed my life when I attended a show here in 1987.”

Firenza Guidi shared, “being back here now with this show feels amazing.”
