Donegal born Gary O’Hanlon has been appointed the new Executive Chef of Michael Fetherston’s The K Club in Straffan, County Kildare.
Mr O’Hanlon, an award-winning Irish chef and broadcaster, previously worked as Head Chef at Chateau du Coudreceau in France and Viewmount House in Co. Longford.
Originally from Ramelton, O’Hanlon has appeared on various TV shows and co-hosts the podcast ‘Dishing It Out’.
Mr O’Hanlon posted on X: “starting this week, after five amazing years in the Loire Valley it’s time to come home and cook on Irish soil again. I’ve loved The K Club since I knew what a golf club was so I am honoured and proud today. If you had told my younger self I would one day be Executive Head Chef at The K Club I wouldn’t have believed you. The K Club is a shining example of hospitality in Ireland and one that I feel very proud to have been asked to become a part of. Whilst it’s an historic venue, the team is full of fresh thinking and doesn’t shy away from new ideas and I’m very excited to see where this journey takes us.”
The K Club’s General Manager Paul Heery says: “We welcome Gary’s knowledge in seeking out the very best in locally produced seasonal ingredients, helping to continue to drive the food offering at The K Club. We feel very privileged to have such a talented chef as the newest member of The K Club family who will take over the baton and continue all the incredible work done over the years by our outgoing Executive Head Chef Philip Brazil, as well as bringing some of his own fresh, new ideas to the table and supporting the team.”
