
The Hanly Castle Hotel Group has acquired the 37-room Kinnitty Castle, announcing plans for renovations and enhancements to preserve its heritage.
Hanly, founded by Alan Hanly and sold to an Isle of Man company in 2022, operate two castle hotel 37km apart, 44-room Lough Rynn near Mohill in Leitrim and 48-room Kilronan Castle near Ballyfarnon county Roscommon.
The existing management team will stay in place as the group prepares to submit a planning application to Offaly County Council later this year.
Plans for the castle include refurbishing state rooms and bedrooms, expanding room capacity, and adding leisure facilities to cater to guests.
Kinnitty Castle has a long history as a wedding venue and is situated in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, which are set to attract even more visitors through the development of mountain bike trails.
