Vietnam’s government has urged its departments and agencies to support Bamboo Airways following its financial difficulties, and asked them to report back by December 31, 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasised his request in meetings with officials from various ministries, the State Bank of Vietnam, and the State Capital Management Commission.

Bamboo Airways, which reported a loss of USD722.5m in 2022, is currently restructuring to prevent it from folding. The carrier expects to record a further loss of USD41m this quarter.

In addition to the government support, officials were told to encourage assistance from state-owned entities like the Vietnam National Petroleum Group and several banks, many of which already have business relationships with the airline.
