Heathrow Airport celebrated its busiest day ever in June with over 268,000 passengers passing through the airport.
The airport welcomed a total of 7.4m passengers in June, with back-to-back days of over 260,000 passengers for the first time.
The rolling 12-month traffic numbers now sit at 81.9m, surpassing the pre-pandemic record of 80.9m in 2019.
Heathrow has increased its traffic forecast for 2024 to 82.4m and has implemented measures to improve the customer experience, including a specialist baggage resilience team and food and beverage ambassadors.
Heathrow CEO Thomas Woldbye, said: “June has seen more Heathrow records shattered including serving more passengers in a single day than ever before. I want to thank all my colleagues who went the extra mile to make sure the 268,000 passengers travelling on the busiest day had a smooth, stress free journey. I am thrilled these efforts have been recognised by ACI Europe, highly commending Heathrow in the recent Best Airport awards. We have started summer as we mean to go on.”
