Hector Ó hEochagáin’s latest TG4 series explores Australia and New Zealand, starting in Melbourne with a traditional Aboriginal welcome and extending to Victoria’s sheep stations.
In Australia, he visits Coober Pedy’s underground town, Alice Springs’ red centre, Perth’s Irish community, and Broome’s pearl industry. The journey includes Queensland’s cattle stations, Mt Isa’s mining town, and a Brisbane-to-Sydney road trip featuring a Seabin Project.
In New Zealand, Hector embraces Māori culture in Auckland, visits a kiwi fruit farm, and meets activist Tame Iti on the North Island. The South Island leg covers Sauvignon Blanc country, the West Coast lifestyle, and concludes with a helicopter view of Christchurch.
Linda Ní Ghríofa shared: “Hector ventures beyond the typical tourist traps to tap into the heart of what makes both countries tick.”
