Minister Malcolm Noonan has annoucned that 676 heritage projects across every county will receive financial support through the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) and Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) in 2024.
€9 million in funding will benefit these projects, with €4.5 million going towards 114 projects under the Historic Structures Fund scheme.
The BHIS will provide grants of up to €15,000 for maintenance and smaller conservation works, with a focus on preventing disrepair of historic buildings.
The schemes aim to protect historic structures, revitalise town centres, support traditional craftspeople, and ensure the preservation of Ireland’s unique built heritage for future generations.
Projects receiving funding under the HSF this year include:
- €114,000 for Bawnboy Workhouse, Co. Cavan
- €50,000 for Marsh’s Library, Dublin City
- €18,000 for Moore’s Shop, Trim, Co. Meath

- €15,000 for conservation of stained glass in St. MacCullin’s Church in Lusk, Co. Dublin
- €15,000 for roofing works to St. John’s Point Lightkeepers’ Cottages in Dunkineely, Co. Donegal
