
The total supply of hospitality services in Ireland contributed €10.5bn to the economy in the aftermath of pandemic, with Food & Beverage Services making up 74pc (€7.7bn) of this figure.
A report by the Central Statistic Office for the calendar year 2021 estimated employee compensation within the hospitality value chain amounted to €3.4bn, highlighting the sector’s significant contribution to employment.
The workforce was predominantly aged 18 to 25 and skewed towards women, although men held roles as chefs and bartenders at four times the rate of women, while women were four times more likely to work as waiters.
Households consumed 72pc of hospitality services, tourists contributed 16pc, and businesses accounted for 12pc; however, total output was down 21pc compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
