The Hurtigruten fleet has introduced a new menu from Culinary Ambassador Máret Rávdná Buljo drawing on traditional Sámi dishes.
The indigenous dishes integrate into Norway’s Coastal Kitchen concept partnering with over 70 local producers.
Signature Voyage ships MS Trollfjord and MS Finnmarken feature five new dishes in their Árran restaurant, including vegetarian options like salmon with ember bread, reindeer liver burger, and lingonberry porridge.
The original Coastal Express ships offer dishes in Torget, Kysten, and later Brygga Bistro. The menu celebrates Sámi history, traditions, and sustainable practices.
Máret Rávdná Buljo, Hurtigruten’s Culinary Ambassador shared “This is a big step for Sámi cuisine, as it has not always been traditionally acknowledged in Norway, so Hurtigruten is opening the door for Sámi food to be more widespread.”
Øistein Nilsen, Culinary Director, Hurtigruten shared “Hurtigruten has been focusing on Sámi food as part of its Norway’s Coastal Kitchen concept for quite a while, and we are excited about this natural evolution of the company’s commitment to showcase local flavours and sustainable traditions.”
