HX Expeditions to offer stays in retro cabin to mark 130th anniversary

HX Expeditions is to offer a one-night stay in a recreated 1896 expedition cabin aboard Fridtjof Nansen from 29 January 2026, to mark the 130 years anniversary of the cruise line.

The cabin features handcrafted 19th-century furnishings, authentic scents, and touches from HX’s first expedition cruise in 1896. The €450 add-on per night donates 50pc of profits to the HX Foundation with one night limit per guest per sailing.

A barrel of Fortified Zweigelt wine travels the HX fleet in 2026 for bottling as a 2027 anniversary vintage.

AROS Marine designed the cabin based on historical research into early passenger accommodations.

Gebhard Rainer shared “The 1896 Cabin is a chance for our guests to not just see history but to live and sleep in it.”

Mantas Lataitis shared “Designing the HX 1896 Cabin to life has been a journey into history as much as it has into design.”
