IAG has signed its largest Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) purchase agreement with e-SAF producer Twelve, for 785,000 tonnes to support its five European airlines
Twelve will supply IAG with advanced e-SAF made from CO2, water, and renewable energy, reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90pc compared to conventional jet fuel
Deliveries of the next-generation fuel are expected to start as early as 2025, with Twelve pioneering power-to-liquid technology to produce high-quality synthetic fuels
IAG’s commitment to reaching 10pc SAF use by 2030 has been boosted by this deal, securing one-third of the SAF needed to reach the target and supporting the company’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
