The Icon of the Seas resumed revenue service for Royal Caribbean International on October 5, 2024, after undergoing unscheduled repairs in the Bahamas.
The vessel welcomed passengers back in PortMiami for a seven-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, visiting destinations such as St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
The ship had previously faced technical issues in late September that resulted in the cancellation of its sailings and required maintenance, reducing its operating speed.
As the first of the new Icon class, built at the Meyer Turku shipyard, the Icon of the Seas began its service earlier in 2024, with three additional Icon-class ships, including the Star of the Seas, planned for future delivery.
