Ireland’s 75 companies exhibiting at WTM 2023 in Excel in London reported a strong first day, although business is not back to pre pandemic levels.

The goal is to conduct approximately 2,800 meetings that will generate valuable overseas tourism business for Ireland in the upcoming year.

Tourism Ireland says overseas tourism to the island of Ireland has rebounded in the first year after pandemic restrictions.

Air access to Ireland for the winter of 2019 has increased, especially from major source markets like Great Britain (103pc of 2019 levels) and North America (112pc of 2019 levels).

Hotel occupancy in Ireland is also higher than in 2019, although 13pc of rooms are under contract for humanitarian reasons.
