A study revealed that Irish passengers left behind over 6,000 items in taxis in 2024, with mobile phones being the most frequently forgotten, making up a third of lost items.
Other commonly forgotten items include bags, wallets, keys, glasses, and headphones, as well as unexpected items like dentures, cowboy hats, and even a stethoscope.
Ireland leads Europe in the number of lost items in taxis, with 24pc of the total lost items reported in FreeNow taxis coming from the country.
December is noted as the peak month for forgotten items, suggesting that increased festivities contribute to passengers being more distracted.
