Qantas has temporarily rerouted its daily nonstop flight from Perth to London via Singapore Changi to avoid overflying parts of the Middle East due to heightened fears of air strikes.
The rerouting started on August 8 and is expected to continue until at least August 22, affecting the QF9 flight to London, while the return QF10 service remains unaffected.
This is the second time this year that Qantas has rerouted the flight through Singapore to avoid potential disruptions over the Middle East, adding around four hours to the journey.
The usual route for QF9 overflies parts of the Middle East, including Dubai and the Iran/Iraq border, before heading towards Europe, but recent changes had already bypassed the Gulf region.
