- JetBlue will close its inflight base at Newark this autumn.
- Technical operations bases at Newark and LaGuardia will shut.
- Seasonal services from Newark to Los Angeles and Las Vegas will end.
- The airline redirects capacity to Fort Lauderdale expansion.
- No staff will lose jobs due to the operational changes.
JetBlue has announced plans to reduce its operational presence in the New York area. The airline will close its flight attendant base at Newark Liberty International Airport and technical operations bases at Newark and LaGuardia Airport this autumn. It will also end seasonal transcontinental services from Newark to Los Angeles and Las Vegas while redirecting capacity towards growth in Fort Lauderdale.
The changes form part of a broader strategy to cut costs amid high operating expenses in the New York region. JetBlue has maintained a substantial presence across the New York airports but has concentrated recent growth in South Florida. The airline has confirmed that no employees will lose their jobs as a result of the base closures.
