Three Green Party candidates running in the local elections have objected to planning for a steel-framed aircraft hangar to accommodate private aircraft at Kerry International Airport. The proposal includes an arrivals and departures area, pick-up facilities, reception and waiting rooms, car parking, access road, and site works.

Objectors include Green Party candidates Cleo Murphy, Anluan Dunne, and Anne-Marie Fuller and ‘Friends of Earth’ member Tony Lowes,

The expansion is seen as a way to enhance the airport’s role as a strategic gateway for the southwest region, aligning with the government’s National Aviation Policy for Kerry.

Kerry Airport believes the hangar would support the growth of the airport, create employment opportunities, and attract investors and businesspeople to the region.
