  • Up to 74 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft are on order.
  • The first E2 delivery is expected in late 2026.
  • LATAM operates eleven Boeing 767 freighters.
  • Ten Airbus A321-200NY(XLR) aircraft are on order.
  • Argentina remains a key international market for LATAM.

LATAM Airlines Group has confirmed it is considering the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X as replacements for its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

Chief executive Roberto Alvo revealed the evaluation during the IATA AGM in Rio de Janeiro on 15 June 2026. The group remains satisfied with its current long haul mix of Boeing 777s and 787s but plans for eventual widebody renewal. Brazilian subsidiary LATAM Airlines Brasil previously operated the A350 before fleet harmonisation.

LATAM expects to introduce the Embraer E195-E2 in the fourth quarter of 2026 with up to 74 on order. The type will serve smaller Brazilian cities. For cargo LATAM favours a potential Boeing 787 freighter conversion in the 50 to 65 tonne segment to succeed the Boeing 767 freighters.

Alvo noted challenges from inconsistent aviation policies across Latin America and recent tax measures in Peru that affected hub development in Lima.

Roberto Alvo shared “the question is not whether one aircraft is better than the other the question is which one best fits the network. What does not exist today is a production freighter in the 50 to 65 tonne segment.”
