Los Angeles International Airport’s Automated People Mover (APM) train is scheduled to open in January 2026.
Business Traveller first reported on the APM plans in 2018, and construction began in 2019.
The APM will run on a 2.25-mile elevated track, connecting LAX’s Central Terminal Area with the Los Angeles Metro Rail system.
LAX hopes that the APM will ease traffic congestion, resulting in 42 million fewer vehicle miles annually and providing a dedicated connection to the city’s metro system ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics.
