Hurtigruten cruise line has reorganised and is anticipating growth in Ireland this year through a targetted marketing campaign through the travel trade.

“What we offer is a ship that offers a unique experience for people who enjoy being on ships,” Anthony Daniels of Hurtigruten says.

“The ship accommodates 350 to 500 passengers, providing a more intimate setting compared to larger cruise ships. The focus is on exploring the local communities and outreaches of Norway, which larger ships cannot access.”

“We don’t have nightclubs and show lounges but we take you to one of the most beautiful countries in the world and get very close in, more than anybody else can offer.”

Carla Hines of Hurtigruten says: “Our goal is to attract new agents and guests who may not consider themselves cruisers and educate them about the unique experience offered, emphasizing the beautiful country and engaging with local communities.”

“Our remit is to find those new agents to find those new guests to educate that this is different, to look past the ship and look at the experience that we can offer.”

“We still have amazing facilities on board and great food and everything you’d want. Then you get off and go and explore and engage in local communities.”

A global rebrand of Hurtigruten Expeditions to HX will be complete by Christmas while Hurtigruten Norway’s Coastal Express will be simplified to just “Hurtigruten” (pronounced without the G).

The new HX brand and logo will be implemented in December, with fleet repainting over the next 18 months. HX will continue to offer immersive small-ship experiences rooted in exploration, scientific research, and community advocacy.

Other recent initiatives include Hurtigruten’s SeaZero project, the world’s first zero-emissions cruise ship concept. Hurtigruten Group is committed to becoming the world’s most sustainable adventure travel company and plans to launch a zero-emission ship in 2030.

Anthony Daniels was recently promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing (EMEA) and Carla Hines joined Hurtigruten (formerly Hurtigruten Norway) as sales lead.
