Ballyfin Demesne hotel reports loss of €388k in 2024

Ballyfin Demesne Ltd records pre-tax losses of €389,281 in 2024, more than four times the previous figure. Accommodation income falls to €4.01m, though food and beverage revenue rises slightly to €1.95m. Non-cash depreciation costs amount to €617,020.

In the year, overall revenues decreased by 3.5pc from €6.85m to €6.61m, while staff numbers grow from 93 to 96 with costs rising to €3.34m. The 21-bedroom hotel in Co Laois retains its Michelin three-key ranking and secures a Michelin star for its State Dining Room. Other income increases to €646,889.

At year-end, shareholder funds total €22.84m despite accumulated losses of €37.62m. The property continues under ownership of the Chicago-based Krehbiel family, who invested heavily since purchase in 2002. Management pay reduces to €350,113.
