Majorca’s international airport was shut temporarily on Wednesday when runways flooded, preventing flights from taking off or landing due to heavy rain.
Videos posted online showed water streaming from the ceiling of the shopping area and leaking through windows at the airport.
Eyewitnesses described the situation as chaotic, with passengers seeking cover from the rain pouring through the roof.
The operator, Aena, confirmed flooding in some areas of the airport and stated that operations were temporarily halted for safety reasons. Flights were redirected to alternative airports until operations resumed.
